Does WinRAR sync or back up to the cloud by itself?
No. WinRAR is a desktop archiver. Syncing means copying your settings/licence between PCs and keeping archives in a cloud folder; backup means making multiple copies of your encrypted vault. The guides in this section cover both.
What is the safest way to back up an encrypted archive?
Follow the 3-2-1 rule — three copies, on two media types, with one offsite — add a recovery record when you create the archive, and store the password separately from the vault.
Which cloud services work with WinRAR?
Any service with a desktop folder client, including OneDrive, Google Drive and Dropbox. You save your archives into that folder and the client syncs them automatically.
Do I need to encrypt before uploading to the cloud?
For sensitive data, yes. Build a password-protected AES-256 archive with file names encrypted, so the provider only ever stores encrypted data.
